  • Supports the tire manufacturing process in various machine operation of general laborer roles.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize tradition welding techniques such as arc welding as well as semiautomatic techniques such as wire feeder.

  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment.

  • Ability to read drawings to properly execute the job.

  • Ability to weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

  • Ability to clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat ben, grind or bolt component parts to obtain requited configurations.

  • Monitor the fitting, burning and welding process to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.

  • Examines work for defects and measures work for straightedges or templates to ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Ability to recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arch and gas metal arc welding equipment.

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.

  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metal being welded, completing electrical circuits.

  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease or foreign matter.

  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective material and notify supervision.

  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of welding experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment OR completed a 2 year educational certificate in welding

  • Ability to stand/walk on concrete floors.

  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold).

  • Ability to do physically demanding work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work at heights of 10 feet or greater.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to work on both a team and individual projects.

  • Ability to follow established safety policies.

  • Satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

  • Successful completion of the pre-employment assessment.

  • Successful completion of a background and drug screen.

  • Ability to perform job specific physical work capability exercises. (JOB FIT Exercises)
