About the Position

Goodyear is looking for a forward thinking, creative user centered designer to support its innovation efforts based in Silicon Valley, and position Goodyear at the forefront of key trends shaping the automotive industry (fleets – autonomous – connected – electric). Goodyear is accelerating its efforts by with a local, cross-functional team of engineers, scientists and designers to leverage the Silicon Valley innovation ecosystem and build new digital solutions for traditional and emerging customers.

The Senior User Centered Designer will provide the teams with customer insights, market understanding and technology applications in order to build services for the future of mobility.

Responsibilities:

  • Frame and initiate new projects by researching market trends, hypothesizing user needs and considering stakeholder objectives

  • Conduct ethnography, interviews, observation, behavioral prototyping and other qualitative research methods

  • Ability to bring lots of data from research into frameworks that explain customer’s actives, jobs to be done, insights, behavior, etc.

  • Impactful communication skills to inform findings from research work in order to bring along team members into the process

  • Facilitate ideation to explore new creative opportunities

  • Design user experiments and develop hands-on prototypes to validate research findings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, design or business

  • 7-9 years of experience in user insight and innovation within consumer package goods, automotive, financial services or similar industry.  Or, equivalent experience with client facing programs at a consulting firm.

  • Primary Research (ethnography, intercept, in person etc.) and secondary research

  • Designed and executed multiple studies integrating quantitative and qualitative research across industries, such as health, mobility, technology, retail, entertainment, or others.

  • Great communicator of new concepts with the ability to use digital, video & physical presentation of findings

  • Group ideation and facilitation

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
