About the Position:

Position is responsible for safe and environmentally sound manufacture of emulsion SBR products to documented specifications. Following a rotating shift schedule, the position incumbent provides leadership and direction for an assigned crew of operators in our Finishing department.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and oversight of all finishing activities on assigned shift. Plan and coordinate all work tasks to ensure they are performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner which enables the plant to meet production and quality goals.

  • Insure compliance with established and evolving SH&E policies and procedures. Assist in facilitating monthly safety meetings and perform routine audits to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors. Assure changes are communicated, and that proper actions are taken to prevent or minimize incidents. Implement corrective actions from incident investigations.

  • Routinely monitor process operations to optimize rates and prevent downtime. Troubleshoot process upsets. Support actions to address customer complaints.

  • Monitor maintenance, engineering, vessel cleaning, and PSM activities to minimize impact to production. Work with contract labor supervision to maintain acceptable performance.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, counsel and feedback to ensure direct reports have the tools necessary to successfully complete daily tasks, understand policies and work instructions, and are performing their duties in a manner that reflects Goodyear’s values.

  • Assist with and support all training and development activities necessary to qualify operators in their current and future roles including but not limited to new hire on-boarding, operator recertification, and OJT in support of job movement.

Required Experience and Education:

  • High School Education required. 2-year technical degree, vocational/ technical school certification in a related field, and/or apprenticeship program with a mechanical discipline is preferred.

  • 3 years of production and maintenance work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

  • Computer proficiency. Familiar with equipment output.

  • Must be able to work a rotating shift that includes nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to wear all job required Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Problem solving Ability to direct others, forecast, establish priorities.

  • Effective time management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be technically competent, laying out work effectively for all crafts involved. Knowledgeable of plant standard policies, procedures, systems and stores.

  • Proficient use of MMIS to process work orders, analyze and define equipment problems and inventory control.

  • Chemical plant experience and/or supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience as a leader in a union environment preferred.

  • Previous military service within a technical specialty preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply mechanical concepts and principles to solve problems is a plus.
