About the Position

The purpose of the position is to support Goodyear’s business by motivating team members to meet department safety expectations, quality standards productivity goals and Goodyear policies. This is a transition position into Supervision and requires a balance of operational on-floor skills and the learning of new Supervisory skills. This person will perform functions expected of both on-floor working associates and the Supervisor.


  • Demonstrate capability of performing all functions of the on-floor associates and provide technical guidance to all on-floor staff

  • Exhibit and demonstrate technical knowledge of all process and procedure functions within the department

  • Support the responsibilities of the Supervisor, including support of activities such as;

  • Ensure adherence and compliance to established Company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Ensure and validate that the output of the work group meets current quality standards

  • Investigate and resolve personnel issues associated with performance, attendance, teamwork, work responsibilities and safety

  • Support customer requests that may require special set-up, customer visits and tours, and fast track test requests

  • Motivate and guide team members to meet department productivity goals

  • Assist team members to ensure proper methods and procedures are followed

  • Perform departmental or shift documentation such as daily assignments, logbooks, audits, work routings and daily metrics

  • Lead reoccurring meetings such as safety and daily on-shift meetings

  • Perform on-shift audits

  • Act as a back-up to supervisor and perform as the Supervisor during absences

  • Use safe working practices and promote a safe work atmosphere

  • Lead by example, take initiative and communicate effectively with team members and customers (both written and oral)

Position may require shift, evening, night or weekend work assignments.

Skills and Knowledge

  • -Knowledge or training of CIS, LEAN, quality systems, and leadership

  • -In depth knowledge and understanding of work being performed by the work force and ability to adjust, modify or correct

  • -Knowledge of internal Goodyear Safety standards and OSHA regulations

  • -Working knowledge of administrative tools and systems for timekeeping, attendance, performance metrics, lab automation and scheduling as well as other tools to support an efficient work group.

  • -Solid computer skills (e-mail, SAP, TDIS, Microsoft office tools)

Education and Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent certification

  • Work experience related to department function

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience

  • Experience in lab operations required
