Description: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s Product Evaluation Department is responsible for the testing needs of all the tires developed in its North American Innovation Center including Passenger, light truck, aircraft, radial medium truck, race, and off-road construction tires. Goodyear’s North American test facilities primarily include laboratories in Akron, OH and a proving ground in San Angelo, TX. This position will be based in Akron, OH, which is a 24/7 operation. The facility is a frequent tour destination for Goodyear associates and customers, requiring meticulous care of the facility and equipment, projecting a high level of professionalism in daily operations. This is for a third shift.
The purpose of the position is to support Goodyear’s business by motivating team members to meet department safety expectations, quality standards, productivity goals, and Goodyear policies.
Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Work experience related to department function preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience required.
Demonstrated leadership skills through assigned projects, or process improvements such as lean, CIS, or other departmental initiatives.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of work being performed by the work force and ability to adjust, modify, or correct.
Internal Goodyear Safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Working knowledge of administrative tools and systems for timekeeping, attendance, performance metrics, lab automation and scheduling, as well as other tools to support an efficient work group.
Solid computer skills (email, SAP, TDIS, Microsoft Office tools).
Actively manage the Performance Management Process (PMP) for direct reports by giving constructive, timely feedback.
Ensure that departmental productivity and safety objectives are met by reviewing daily staffing requirements and making adjustments as needed.
Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the work force to achieve department goals and objectives daily.
Lead training program by actively reviewing current and future needs to support knowledge management and team flexibility.
Lead projects and teams focused on improving operational efficiencies, standardization, process improvements, quality initiatives, and teamwork.
Act as primary contact person for operational issues that may occur throughout the day.
Communicate effectively with team members, leaders, and customers (both written and oral).
Ensure adherence and compliance to established Company policies and procedures.
Ensure and validate that the output of the work group meets quality standards such as pre-test inspections, report reviews, automated data system reviews, post audits, and machine performance inspections (Laboratory).
Investigate and resolve personnel issues associated with performance, attendance, teamwork, work responsibilities, and safety.
Support customer requests that may require special set-up, customer visits and tours, and fast track test requests.
Maintain and update departmental procedures.
Create and maintain shift metrics, which may include logbooks, assignment sheets, attendance, lab performance, and machine performance parameters.
Schedule resources to maximize operational effectiveness.
