Position Overview:

Drive excellence in Environmental Health & Safety to achieve a competitive advantage, compliance & to make sure Goodyear is recognized as a global leader in this initiative.

Provide input to the Senior Director EHS&S regarding cultural change initiatives, best practices and improvements across Goodyear globally. Assist in the design, development and implementation of these programs, processes and standards throughout the enterprise; including building a global safety culture.

Partner with the Director Global Sustainability to collaborate with the CEO managed Tire Industry Project (Environmental Initiative through the WBCSD) in the identification, assessment & prevention of potential long-term safety, health & environmental issues that may impact the tire industry globally. Maintain internal metrics that demonstrate our EH&S leadership to Goodyear's senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure global systems & processes in place to eliminate injuries & illness in the workplace. Ensure that a global audit process is in place to measure effectiveness & provide performance results to leadership. Establish systems to manage capex to address global facility-wide EHS issues.

  • Lead & direct global teams to drive completion of requirements & compliance to mandatory environmental releases (MERs) & mandatory safety releases (MSRs). Ensure systems are developed that lead to compliance to governmental mandates globally. Ensure that a global audit process is developed, implemented & sustains compliance.

  • Partner with the global business continuity team to allow Goodyear to manage the business under adverse conditions. This includes, but not limited to, natural, man-made & economic issues. Ensure the process protects our associates, neighbors, environment, facilities & business.

  • Provide updates to functional leadership regarding metric performance, system progress & compliance status. Meet regularly with the Sr Director EHS&S and the VP Global Manufacturing & EHS&S to discuss forward plans, policies & strategic initiatives. Update the Sr Director EHS&S and the VP Global Manufacturing & EHS&S on the status of compliance & activities. Assist in the development of the annual Corporate Responsibility Report.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 4 years Bachelor of science Degree; Master’s Degree (technical or business would be desirable.

  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience as a leader of Environmental, Health & Safety functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • OSHA safety regulations (base for Goodyear safety reporting).

  • Knowledge of safety regulations from around the world, knowledge of environmental standards from around the world.

  • Knowledge of TASCA & US EPA requirements as well as EPA requirements from around the world, industrial hygiene, MSDS, Reach & Sustainability.

  • Strong presentation, public speaking, business acumen, leadership, interpersonal & communication skill, both verbal & written.
